Shipping Container Twist Lock is a standardized rotating connector for securing shipping container. The trailer container twist lock main function is for locking a container into place on container ship, semi-trailer truck or or railway container train; and for lifting of the containers by container cranes and side lifters. A major advantage of sea container twist locks is that containers may be stored or transported without being inspected for months at a time, the twist lock do not require any maintenance in order to function effectively. Even with long term exposure to the different weather, the container remains as simple to move as ever.

Dovetail twistlocks are used at the bottom corners of containers, either to handle longitudinal forces due to torsional deformation of the ship’s hull, or when the twistlocks need to be easily removed to create a flat stowage surface.
 
These twistlocks are attached into a dovetail frame, which makes them easy to attach and detach, leaving only the frame fixed.
 
A dovetail frame does not build as much height as a conventional twistlock foundation would, and therefore it is popular for areas where there is a need to keep the loading deck surface free from protruding fittings, e.g. in case of multi-purpose cargoes.

Shipping container interlocks or stackers are used to fix and lock containers together in a stack and stop them falling off the container vessels when they are at sea. These heavy duty interlocks are the same type used at many ports and on container boats around the world.

For domestic use, if you want to stack a container and ensure it can’t get blown or pushed off its supporting unit then these work extremely well. Much like the shipping containers themselves these interlocks are probably over-engineered for domestic storage use, but they are manufactured on such a scale and are so fantastically strong that they offer a very cost effective option. They are the best quality locking mechanism we know of.

These interlocks are designed for use with any ISO standard width shipping container. You may also want to check the containers that you are stacking have 4 sets of corner castings. Our refurbished range of shipping containers, for example, commonly won’t come out with 4 sets of corner castings.
